The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) is a non-profit, federally-funded research and development center think tank. IDA provides answers to questions posed by the Department of Defense and other agencies that require careful analysis.

This role develops and implements the communication strategy and content across the Human Resources organization to promote awareness of IDA's employment brand, employee engagement, and ensure effective and consistent HR communications. This role collaborates and closely coordinates with the Corporate Communication Group.


  • Informs, guides, and supports the overall human resources communication strategy
  • Aligns and integrates the communication objectives of all human resources functional teams, through partnership and proactive planning
  • Acts as a liaison to the Corporate Communication Group and partners on company-wide employee communications
  • Develops and manages social media platforms (LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Twitter, etc.) in support of talent branding to achieve candidate engagement, website traffic, and talent brand awareness
  • Builds and executes a talent social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification
  • Review and respond to user comments and posts in a quick and courteous manner
  • Monitors company-wide and local activities/events to find potential real-time talent social media updates
  • Creates consistent and engaging talent social media content and ad campaigns to increase applicant interaction and the organization's on-line employment brand presence
  • In collaboration with the Corporate Communications Group, proposes and creates quality recruiting materials such as brochures, handouts, and print advertisement
  • Develops and gathers content and oversees posting schedules for social outlets (LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Twitter, other platforms as required)
  • Monitors talent social media and website analytics to measure effectiveness of recruitment and outreach strategy
  • Works with the Benefits team to develop a benefits communication plan to better educate staff about the rich benefit programs IDA offers
  • In collaboration with the Corporate Communications Group, proposes and creates benefits communication materials such as annual enrollment communications and documents, brochures, flyers, FAQs, newsletter articles, presentations
  • Develops communication tools and materials with high standards, including executive messaging for the Human Resources Director
  • Develops and implements communication plans for new HR initiatives
  • Develops and maintains a communication plan that supports the overall organizational objectives and manage HR Calendar and newsletter
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Communications, Media, Marketing or related field coupled with two years of experience in HR, communications, marketing, or public relations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Twitter.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organization.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with graphic design programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearance.
