About the Position: The Marketing Director will be responsible for directing marketing initiatives that raise awareness and visibility for the Center for Reproductive Rights as the global legal expert on sexual and reproductive rights. This innovative and creative leader will be able to produce compelling marketing strategies and impactful campaigns that reach diverse audiences around the world.

The Marketing Director will report to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, and support the organization's domestic and global programs.


This position is based in New York City.


The Marketing Director's primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing strategic leadership and implementation of marketing, brand management and audience development for the Center.
  • Conceive, create and execute effective holistic campaigns that include events, content, video, and digital marketing that raise visibility and awareness.
  • Lead overall brand messaging and strategy for the Center.
  • Develop holistic and integrated marketing and communications plan to drive the Center's mission, vision and strategy with communications management team.
  • Drive and maintain alignment and integration between (...) and global marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Conceive, develop and create marketing products and materials for target audiences.
  • Develop innovative ways to connect with target audiences.
  • Deliver high level of customer service with internal departments, partners and leadership.
  • Work closely with the organization's various departments to enable them to meet their objectives by providing them with appropriate tools, materials and presentations to market the Center.
  • Partner with affiliate organizations and others in the reproductive rights space in the US and globally.
  • Undertake continuous analysis of the reproductive rights environment and proactively create adjusted strategy recommendations.
  • Direct analytical data gathering and market test strategies.
  • Oversight of all design and advertising ventures.
  • Guide the day-to-day activities of the marketing team.
  • Proactively manage and mentor marketing team


  • Minimum of 10 years of integrated marketing experience with direct team management;
  • Experience running integrated marketing campaign strategy for a global audience; Track record of developing innovative and creative marketing strategies and approaches
  • Significant experience and track record raising visibility and profile for organization(s)/client(s)
  • Advocacy/non-profit experience and experience working in an environment with a legal element is a plus
  • High level of familiarity and understanding of the reproductive rights space
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively in a litigation and policy driven environment
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, problem-solving, and mentoring skills, and a calm, diplomatic demeanor'even in times of intense pressure;
  • Experience managing a four+ person team required;
  • Exceptional writing, editing and messaging skills;
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to communicate via written and visual measures effectively;
  • Proficiency with project management tools; experience with Asana a plus;
  • Extremely sharp organizational skills and ability to manage large volumes of projects, tasks, and files effectively simultaneously;
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment with a wide variety of strong personalities; sense of humor;
  • Ability to travel within and outside the (...) as needed.

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Advanced degree marketing, communications, journalism or related field highly preferred.
