Department/College Description

RIT's School of Communication is particularly interested in persons with interests connecting communication and issues of race, diversity and inclusion in the public sphere. We offer BS degrees in Advertising & Public Relations, Communication, and Journalism; an MS in Communication & Media Technologies; and an online Advanced Graduate Certificate in Communication & Digital Media. There are 24 full-time faculty.

The School is dedicated to exceptional teaching and individual attention to students, with an undergraduate and graduate curriculum emphasizing applied theory and practical knowledge along with an interdisciplinary focus that has students take courses in one of RIT's professional or technical programs. Faculty in the School pursue and publish research related to spoken, written, visual and other mediated forms of communication and come from a wide range of cultural and intellectual backgrounds.

Detailed Job Description

Rochester Institute of Technology's School of Communication invites applications for tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning August 2018.

Successful candidates will have research and teaching strengths in some of the following areas: intercultural, interpersonal, and the intersection of communication and the digital space. The ability to teach other courses in all four of our degree programs is desirable. We are interested in someone who utilizes mixed and/or multiple methodologies to examine communication.

We are seeking an individual who has the ability and interest in contributing to a community committed to student-centeredness; professional development and scholarship; integrity and ethics; respect, diversity and pluralism; innovation and flexibility; and teamwork and collaboration. Required Minimum Qualifications

• A (...) in communication, rhetoric or a related field is required.
• An ability to teach intercultural and interpersonal communication
• An ability to teach generalist courses
• A record or promise of published scholarly research that explores communication incorporating mixed methodologies
• An ability to connect communication and issues of race, diversity and inclusion in the public sphere
• An ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college's continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences
