The Division of Development and Alumni Relations is dedicated to advancing the mission and vision of RIT. Strategically critical to achieving the university's goals, the Division of Development and Alumni Relations nurtures lifelong, mutually beneficial relationships with alumni, parents, friends, faculty/staff and organizations resulting in deeper connections, greater volunteer engagement and increased philanthropic support. We are a team-oriented, highly collaborative Division working with all areas of the university to maximize fundraising opportunities and alumni involvement.


Detailed Job Description


Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing and Donor Relations, this position will oversee the day-to-day operation and support of the university's campus-wide crowdfunding program. This program is responsible for a minimum of 30 campaigns per year which net greater than $200,000 annually and the addition of several new student, alumni and community donors to the university. This position has direct input as to the marketing and communication involved with the program as a whole and for each individual campaign. The position is also responsible for collaborating with colleagues and implementing the Division's social media initiatives.


Major Responsibilities:


• Recruit and secure crowdfunding campaigns, and working directly with the project leaders, provide guidance in developing and implementing the messaging and marketing strategies necessary for successful campaigns which result in attracting new donors and funds to the university and support vital student projects.

• Primary point of contact and liaison between the university, the Division, and the crowdfunding platform provider.
• Through campus outreach, presentations and other marketing strategies, build awareness and interest in the program among students, alumni and donor communities.
• Lead a university-wide crowdfunding committee responsible for establishing guidelines, maintaining best practices and providing ongoing insights as to the growth of the program university-wide.
• Confer with and advise staff, students and others to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, program goals and policy interpretations.
• Assess and analyze program results, identify needs and opportunities and suggest improvements were appropriate
• Direct crowdfunding campaign logistics, scheduling and communications and work collaboratively with the Gift Office, the Fund for RIT, Leadership Giving, Marketing, Donor Relations, Controller's Office and other constituent groups across the campus as needed.
• Generate ongoing and adhoc reports and records on program activities, progress, status for management.
• Evaluate program effectiveness to develop and implement improved methods.
• Working with senior digital media specialist, coordinate and execute social media strategies (not necessarily specific to crowdfunding initiatives) and manage online communities to build increased constituent engagement across all channels.
• Develop and implement additional strategic opportunities to bolster following/membership to LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and similar channels.
• Investigate and research new crowdfunding, social media and other digital media tools; monitor the industry to keep abreast of the latest trends especially as they relate to fundraising, alumni engagement and higher education.
• Using crowdfunding, social media and website analytic tools, track, analyze and report on performance of crowdfunding projects and social media channels.
• Some evening and weekend work as needed. Other duties as assigned.


Required Minimum Qualifications


Required Skills:


• Bachelor's degree required
• Five plus years of experience in marketing, social media marketing or annual giving
• Proven copy writing skills and the ability to write compelling marketing copy for the web and social media.
• Understanding and working knowledge with both direct marketing (via email) and social media marketing; ability to build plans and implement.
• Experience leveraging a CMS and technical understanding of CRM technologies.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to successfully present to large groups and work with campus constituents at all levels
• Excellent computer skills and advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite required; ability to manipulate data using more advanced Excel formulas;direct experience with databases and Adobe Photoshop would be a plus.
• Ability to work some nights and weekends as needed.
