Making Waves Foundation seeks a dynamic and experienced marketing and communications professional to convey the inspiring story and success of Making Waves.

The Director of Marketing and Communications will report to the Chief Advancement Officer and be a trusted, thought partner.

Job Function


Nature and Scope
Under the supervision of the Chief Advancement Officer, the Director will be responsible for the strategic planning and deployment of marketing and communications necessary to support the various initiatives of the Making Waves Foundation and to coordinate with the Making Waves Academy Schools (MWAS) office.


Major Responsibilities:
• Create and direct an integrated, ongoing marketing and communications strategy for each unique program/initiative including digital and print content creation, production, communications and events
• Manage collaborative initiatives with colleagues, outside vendors and key stakeholders overseeing editorial, design and production, and evaluation
• Lead the Marketing & Communications team including the Associate Director and Events Manager

• Oversee the case for support development and community affairs efforts in collaboration with the CAO
• Create an alumni relations/engagement plan and oversee the development and deployment of an organization-wide alumni database/portal and communication plan
• Oversee the publication and distribution of monthly Making Waves e-newsletter
• 7+ years of marketing/brand development and communications experience
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, including the ability to effectively coordinate and prioritize projects
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, specifically with Word, Excel and PowerPoint along with familiarization of complimentary software programs
• Experience developing and launching marketing campaigns
• Experience with communications and social media
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
