Position Summary:
Responsible for executing lead generation and marketing program activity for assigned Relationship Manager (RM): duties include identifying, qualifying and cultivating prospective clients through the following marketing channels – conferences, digital, email and face to face meetings. This position will also interact with other members within Business Development as well as other units of Conning.


Essential Responsibilities: % of time

• Proactively explore and present ways to create, cultivate and close new asset management business as part of the team. Qualify, cultivate, and assist in closing prospects while identifying new business opportunities through research and analysis of industry trends and individual company backgrounds. Actively support the assigned Relationship Manager (RM) including prospect meeting and presentations. Help develop approaches to RM's respective territory and identify prospects. 45%
• Working with various business units on drafting proposals and RFPs. Producing presentations and RFPs that are compliant with SEC, FINRA and GIPS compliance rules and regulations. Work with other Marketing team members to create and maintain internal and external marketing collateral. 30%
• Help develop and execute email and conference plans for assigned RM to reach their prospects. 10%
• Explore new avenues for approaching clients and articulating Conning's unique value proposition. 10%
• Become proficient with Salesforce, Marketo, Qvidian, and other systems necessary to be efficient and effective. 5%


• Bachelors degree
• 3-5 years of experience in marketing or sales, preferably with an insurance or investment firm
• 3-5 years of experience preparing presentations and materials for clients/prospects
• Knowledge of sales and marketing and financial services industry preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Ability to utilize advanced PowerPoint skills to transform concepts and ideas into professional material using advanced features of the software
• Experience with Salesforce, Marketo, Qvidian or similar database desirable
• Ability to travel ~5% at first and potentially more as need arise and capabilities are demonstrated
• Be able to prioritize projects on the basis of importance and time-sensitivity
• Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision
• Work effectively in team environment
• Take initiative and communicate effectively across various departments
• Strong relationship-building, creativity, and organizational skills, with attention to detail
• Prior event management is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and work closely with senior management
