The Director-Media Relations supports the organization's strategic communications plan by developing and implementing national, regional and local media relations programs focused on research, clinical programs and achievements. Serves as the institution's primary contact to the news media and ensures the planning, direction, implementation and measurement of strategic media relations efforts. Develops and implements a national media communications strategy to increase the visibility of St. Jude subject matter experts, and directs a media team charged with enhancing St. Jude's international reputation as a world-class research institution. Participates in integrated media relations efforts with ALSAC, the fundraising organization for St. Jude. Establishes and maintains strong, positive relationships with outside public relations firms, news media, ALSAC and other external contacts to impact the institution's reputation.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, marketing communications, or related field required.
• Master's degree or professional accreditation by PRSA or IABC preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Ten (10) years of experience in communications with five (5) years of experience directing national media relations efforts required.
• Experience working within a medical, scientific or academic organization is preferred.
• Experience communicating medical, technical or scientific concepts is preferred.
